At our West London branch, one of The Felix Project’s distinctive green vans has been lifted by crane onto the rooftop, making it clearly visible from the A40. This elevated installation is designed to spark vital conversations and draw attention to the increasing number of Londoners struggling to access food.
The Felix Project is a pioneering food redistribution charity. They rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to people in need throughout the capital. In the past year alone, The Felix Project saved over 18,000 tonnes of surplus food, providing the equivalent of more than 43 million meals to over 1,200 community organisations and schools in every London borough.
The charity’s work has never been more critical. Demand for food aid continues to surge amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, leaving many families under significant pressure.
As a family-run business deeply rooted in London, our ongoing partnership with The Felix Project allows us to help amplify their life-changing work in the community. By giving their van a prominent platform, we hope to inspire both the public and food businesses to get involved and play a part in tackling hunger.
Shockingly, The Felix Project recently revealed that 43% of working London parents have skipped meals or gone without food in the past year to ensure their children can eat. Such statistics remind us all of the pressing need for action.
The rooftop installation will remain in place over the coming months to ensure this crucial message is seen by as many people as possible.
Recently, The Felix Project announced a merger with FareShare, which will create a larger, more ambitious organisation that will go beyond the capital to drive national impact. We’re excited to see how this next chapter strengthens the fight against hunger across the UK.
