Vanguard is a family-run business with more than 60 years behind it, and Maidenhead will be our tenth branch in England. We are converting a striking former office building on Norreys Drive into a modern, purpose-designed storage facility for the town and the wider Thames Valley.
When the doors open, the branch will offer around 660 individual units across three floors and roughly 40,000 sq ft of net lettable space. That ranges from small lockers for a few boxes right up to larger rooms for businesses that need serious space.
With our Price Guarantee, the rate we give you is locked in for at least 12 months, you will never pay more than our advertised price, and we will not increase it more than once a year. No surprises, just fair pricing.
A bit of aviation history
A Restored De Havilland Vampire in Our Maidenhead Reception
One of the more unusual features of the new branch arrived long before the first customers will. A meticulously restored De Havilland Vampire, a British jet fighter first flown in the 1940s, is being installed in the triple-height reception area, where it will greet everyone who walks through the door.
It is a nod to the aircraft heritage of the Thames Valley and, we think, a rather good talking point. Our Bath branch is home to a restored Vampire T11, and Maidenhead will follow suit.
Designed to be sustainable
A Modern, Energy-Efficient Building
Bringing an empty office building back into use is the greener option to begin with, and the conversion has sustainability designed into it throughout.
The branch will run on energy-efficient LED lighting, with a 143 kWp rooftop solar installation and the aim of being an operationally net-zero building. A new ventilation system, upgraded electrical distribution and a fully replaced roof are already in place.

The new Maidenhead branch is being designed with security and easy access at its heart. Every unit will be individually alarmed and electronically locked, with 24/7 CCTV monitoring, automated sliding gates and secure perimeter fencing around the site.
Getting your belongings in and out will be straightforward too. There will be indoor loading bays for all-weather access, two 3.5-tonne Kone lifts to move between floors, and 24 dedicated parking spaces on site.

Vanguard Self Storage Maidenhead will be one of our branches with EV charging points available for customers to use free of charge.
The charging points support all electric vehicles and will sit in the on-site car park, so you can leave your car to charge while you unload boxes or visit your unit. Cycle parking will be available too, and a Vanguard electric van will support a local man and van service.
