Vanguard Self Storage is pleased to report excellent progress on its new Maidenhead facility, which remains firmly on schedule for handover in August 2026 and the official opening in September 2026.
Marking exactly one year since the project was first announced, the development represents a major milestone for the company as it continues to expand its footprint across England with high-quality, secure, modern storage solutions.
Once complete, the Maidenhead branch will become Vanguard’s tenth location in England, strengthening its position as a trusted choice and offering personal and business self storage in Maidenhead.
Strong Progress on Site Since Announcement
Since the original announcement in September 2025, the transformation of the site has been extensive, with key works completed to date, including:
- Full strip-out of the existing interiors, including removal of old lift shafts and the previous toilet block
- Piling works to the former atrium area and excavation of two new lift pits
- Complete replacement of the roof structure
- Upgraded electrical distribution systems and installation of a new ventilation system
- First fix for lighting cabling, intruder alarms, and access control systems
- Full flooring replacement throughout the building
- Refurbishment and ceiling decoration works across all levels
With these major works now complete, the project has moved into its final construction phase ahead of August handover.
What the New Maidenhead Facility Will Offer
When it opens, the Maidenhead branch will provide a wide range of features designed to make storage simple, secure, modern, and accessible. Whether customers are moving home, running a business, or just need extra space, the facility has been designed to meet a variety of needs.

The building will also include a range of sustainability and accessibility features, such as:
- Energy-efficient LED lighting throughout
- EV charging points and cycle parking
- A 143 kWp solar installation targeting net-zero operational performance
- An electric van service supporting local “man and van” style moves
Supporting the Local Maidenhead Community
Beyond providing high-quality self storage solutions, the new facility is expected to deliver a positive economic impact locally. The branch will create four new jobs, with additional indirect support for surrounding businesses and service providers.
