This coming Sunday’s Songs of Praise, January 27th, was recorded in Swinton and features the local connection with L S Lowry. At Vanguard we were delighted to play a small part in the BBC’s production by providing space for Russell Watson to perform. The filming was undertaken some months ago and we are eagerly awaiting the transmission. The works of L S Lowry are world renowned and his style continues to generate debate within art circles. For many years Lowry lived in Station Road in Swinton and our building, which is just a few hundred yards from his former home, features in one of his works. Swinton is rightly proud of it’s connection to Lowry and at the Vanguard Self Store, we also feel privileged to be associated with this local history.
